DocSpring is a document automation and PDF generation API that allows developers to convert JSON data into filled PDF forms, Word documents, HTML-rendered PDFs, and collect e-signatures.
Authentication
DocSpring uses HTTP Basic Authentication with an API Token ID and API Token Secret:
DOCSPRING_TOKEN_IDas the usernameDOCSPRING_TOKEN_SECRETas the password
Tokens created with api_test_ generate watermarked test PDFs for free, while live tokens starting with api_ generate production documents using account credits.
Making your first request
To create a submission from a template using the synchronous API endpoint:

Pricing
DocSpring operates on a monthly subscription model with prepaid credit allotments:
- Developer: Free ($0/mo) — 200 credits/month, 10 templates, 2 users, 2 active integrations.
- Starter: From $49/month (10,000 credits/month).
- Growth: From $149/month (50,000 credits/month).
- Scale: From $399/month (200,000 credits/month).
Test documents ("test": true) are free and unlimited. Credit usage varies by document type (e.g., filled PDF templates cost 20 credits per 10-page unit; HTML templates cost 4 credits per 10-page unit). Additional credit top-up packs are available starting at $29 for 5,000 credits.
